Hi, I need help identifying this headless bass which belongs to a friend. He got it some years back at a Pawn Shop, and says he repainted it, but that it had no manufactors logo or other identifying marks on it....I thought maybe someone can recognize it and describe what it is. I know it sure is a sweet playing little thing.
I am brand new at this, so let me know if I don't have this in the correct forum...and I"m not too computer saavy either so I'm hoping the picture comes out.
thanks

Not a bad looking bass, aluminum neck, twin J pups wired as a humbucker with 3 way switch. I wouldn't mind one myself.

I don't think it's a Steinberger (Google image search results). I think it's a knockoff of some type. Steinberger's used the double-ball-end strings. And this one is clearly designed for regular strings (just with the tuning pegs on the body instead of the headstock.
Hondo made some Steinberger knock-offs, but I don't think this is one of their either. I've seen this bass before, though. Hmmm.
