All polls about hockey should have a "it's hockey, who cares" option.
[Goes into hiding]
We have a minor league hockey team... minor league hockey in NC? Well upstate we do have a pro team. They had to give away cars at almost every meet, er, ah , match, ah, game, whatever, the first season to fill the stands :)
Actually, we have have a minor league team here (the Carolina Stingrays). I went and saw them play once this past year--my first hockey game ever--and it was a good time.
But I have to give our friends from the great white north a little grief now and then.
It amazes me that any teams (except in the "original 6" markets)are even financialy viable.
I remember reading somewhere that more Americans watch pro bowling than NHL hockey.
We watch monster trucks and fishing shows... bowling is for wimps.
we have "real" football here. The CFL. No fair catch rule, three downs and at least six games played in the snow.
So what do bass players that can't play do?
He's the only guy that played in the Canadian league that I can think of... I liked him. He played against Testaverde in a huge college game and won. Testaverde played for 20 plus years in the NFL. In fact, the Carolina Panthers brought him in 2 weeks ago to quarterback the team since the 1 and 2 QB's were injured.
I think Flutie sold cereal called "Flutie Flakes" to benefit autism. Great guy.
Testaverde became the oldest quarterback in the history of the NFL to start and win a game when he stepped in for the Panthers... Gotta love him.
I don't think the Panthers are going to start him this week.
I didn't even know there was such a thing as Canadian football. Of course, I'm not much of a sports buff.
Hahahahahahahaha - another true believer!
When Ottawa had a team I sat through many games in the blowing snow. (Who could forget forget Tony Gabriel in the '76 Grey Cup - that's football!!!!)
One of the first companies I worked for while I was in high school was owned by a retired Rider (Dave Thelen) and it wasn't that many years ago when a lot of the players woud work the off-season for car dealerships cashing in on their notoriety.
We keep hearing rumours that football could be coming back, sigh.......
Are the Maple Leafs still around, based on the Stanley Cup I'd assumed they had folded the club in '67! LOL
I guess it's that time of year again. Yes, time for beer and hockey.
