"Duplicate Entry" glitch fixed

If you were unable to access the site today (or last night), it was likely due to this problem:

http://devbee.com/node/54

Fixed now, I think. It's a database corruption that can occur when users are deleted. I had to delete a spam user yesterday. So, in addition to his lame spam posts, he cost me this additional trouble. Oy vey!

Hazz & BoH

Admins: In order to avoid this error in the future (at least until this bug is fixed), let's simply "block" spam users rather than delete them.

If you click on a user's name and click the "edit" tab and change "status" to "blocked" (rather than "active"). That will block the user account and, for all practical purposes, is the same as deleting the user, but it doesn't strip them from the database, and thus doesn't risk and DB corruption.

BTW, we've had two spam user accounts created in the past two days. Be on the watch for spam links in new user profiles and spam posts in the forums.

Thanks,

Sure thing there Mr Wheat.

Sure thing there Mr Wheat. Why did that only happen with you though? I have kicked a few and nothing happened. I was also able to log in last night as well as this morning. Hmmmmmm.

I think it has to do with

I think it has to do with deleting the user and then viewing the deleted profile. That can cause it. It can also be caused by two admin users deleting the same user. I'm not exactly sure why it messed up.

The downside of Drupal is that you get some odd database errors once in a while. The upside is there are great forums for supporting it. So you can always find an answer to your problem.
