Site status: Some odd MySQL errors

wheat's picture

We're having some odd database errors at the moment. The hosting company has been informed and is attempting to troubleshoot. You can still surf the site, but you'll see errors at the top. If you post, you will get a page of errors which you can bypass with your browser's "back" button. Your comment will be posted.

Working on a fix. Sorry for the trouble.

[Update (5/7/07): seems fixed for the moment. Please comment if you see any other odd site behavior. Or email me directly (wheat at wheatdesign dot com) if the site goes down.]

[Update (5/8/07): we had a brief database outage tonight at about 7:30 PM (EST).]

[Update (5/9/07): still experiencing some occasional errors, though no outages.]

Yeah, seems okay now. It

Yeah, seems okay now. It was in a major freak out before. I put in help requests and it looks like the host took care of it.

Thanks Aussie, dags, and

Thanks Aussie, dags, and Paul, for the error reports. I think I have it solved now. Here are some
details on the error we were getting (well, actually, we were getting a different error, but it still involved
the cache file: http://drupal.org/node/84934.

I applied this fix a few minutes ago and it seems to have worked.

Spoke too soon...

Then it started screwing up again. So I disabled the cache and emptied the cache table again. Now I'm getting this:

warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: Unable to save result set in /home/17321/domains/bassplaying.com/html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 49.

Man, what a pain in the ass.

Let's see if this posts...

Thanks dags. I think I've

Thanks dags. I think I've beaten the cache-related errors now. I turned off caching entirely and emptied the database table
where the cache is stored. Only anonymous users are supposed to get files from the cache, but Drupal seems to rely on it,
in part, even for people who have logged in.

Report back if you see any more of this weirdness or any other weirdness.

Geoff, I've gotten this one

Geoff,

I've gotten this one a bit, too, along with the more serious one that dags points out.

Thanks, as always, for reporting these. I'll try to get an email list going for times when the site dies on us, though I hope those will be few and far between.

Seems fine now Wheat. It even seems faster, although that's a very subjective impression.

I had the same subjective

I had the same subjective impression, Paul. Maybe my host is fine tuning some things. Or maybe Drupal works faster w/o a database cache. That corrupted cache could have been slowing things down.
