Trying out some new layout ideas

On the forums, browse/site-map, about, and links pages, you'll notice a new right-hand navigation pane with a listing of all-time most popular content and, on the forums and browse pages, recent comments.

It's a little misleading, because the comments can be comments on any node--not just a forum topic. So, if someone publishes a lesson or CD review, recent comments might be on that lesson or review instead of in the forum per se, but the strategy here is to let people easily see what's new and what's popular.

I didn't want to crowd the layout, so I only added the right-hand nav to the top-level of the forum page and didn't include it on the front page or any of the lesson/interview/review pages.

Hope you like it,

I added them to the

I added them to the userpoints page as well (since there's just a bunch of white space on the right-hand-side of that page).

Tell me if this gets out of hand,

I Like It...

I like things just as they are, to be honest. The site layout is fine with me. I have no trouble navigating the site or anything. I still think you've done a swell job here and feel priveleged to be among the membership.

My only gripe is that I can never get into the Shoutbox when everyone else is there! Hahaha! But that's just bad timing.

Yeah, I've never been very

Yeah, I've never been very happy with any of the chat/shout solutions we've tried out here. Do any of you guys IM? We could just trade IM's and get on each other's buddy lists. That would be more effective. I don't post mine out in the wild, but if you send me a private message or an email, I'll forward it to you. I prefer Google Talk, though I have accounts on AIM and Yahoo (that I never use--but for you guys, I'd make an exception).

It's great to have you here, Bo. I'm glad that we've got a good core of members here who keep things going. The site is just going to grow and get better over time. But it takes the dedication of those of you who have been here since day one.
