BD_Acoustic_Jam - Pauls Mix

Hi peeps. I finally got a bass line recorded to the latest BassIAB tune. This was a bit tough for me because I've not tried to play much in the way of acoustic folk.

I had to really listen to a bunch of older BD tunes to get a sense of what to play and then I really had to experiment before finding a line that worked for the tune and that I liked.

This is the result. I know I should never quit my day job but I don't think the result is too bad. It seems faithful to the genre.

I used my tune bass. There were no FX in the input chain. It was recorded using RealBand from PGMusic. I placed a 10 band EQ into the virtual mixer. I pulled off all the 31Hz band, boosted the 500Hz band and reduced the 1KHz and 2KHz bands. The rest were left flat.

That was it. No compression, no chorus; nothing.

So, I hope you like it. As always, comments are welcome, good or bad.

BassIAB 2009.2 - B Dylan Acoustic Jam

Ok, BassIAB 2009.2 is here. I wanted this to sound a bit like a Bob Dylan tune and I think it does. I used a chord progression very similar to something BD would have played. To make it more authentic there's two acoustic guitars, one strumming and the other finger picking.

I tried to add some harmonica but none of the harmonica tracks really suited the tune. I tried a fiddle instead and I think it works well. It really has the sort of sad sound you'd expect from some of BDs work. And man can that fiddle player play, really sweet.

So I hope you all like it and want to develop a good bass line for it. As always I'm looking forward to hearing your work.

BTW, it's in G and the tempo is 125bpm. I'll try to put up a chord chart later if this new interface lets me.

Autumn Leaves (jam track)

A little jam track I put together to work on some walking and soloing ideas over that standard-of-standards, "Autumn Leaves." My version follows the Real Book chords:

The "A" section goes like this:

| Am7 | D7 | G Maj7 | C Maj7 |
| F#m7b5 | B7 | Em | Em |

Play it twice. Then, you hit the "B" Section (about 00:00:28):

| F#m7b5 | B7 | Em | Em |
| Am7 | D7 | G Maj7 | G Maj 7|
| F#m7b5 | B7 | Em7 Eb7 | Dm7 Db7 |
| C Maj7 | B7 | Em | Em|

I put this together in Ableton Live, using EZdrummer for the percussion, one of Live's electric pianos for the keyboard part, and my Telecaster through a Pod Farm preset for the guitars. I've left the bass off on purpose. I'll post another version later with a sample walking line.

This one is pretty rough around the edges, but I decided to share it anyway.

Bo's T40 sample

Just a test of the audio feature. I wanted to see if it would post my T40 samples. Anyway, this is what Peavey T40 sounds like if you are interested.

The Rig: I know, I know, you're reading this part because you wanted to know my preamp, eq, and effects. No, it's rather boring; T40> Lightsnake>Crappy Lappy.
