I was born in Ft. Worth, Texas, went to middle school and high school in Huntsville, Arkansas. I attended college (B.A. & M.A. English, M.Ed. Educational Technology) and spent most of my adult life in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Now I live in Mount Pleasant, SC. I am the author of Wheat's BassBook. My self-indulgent, bass-centric solo project is called James, Not Jim. I am the developer and site administrator of bassplaying.com. My friends call me "Wheat" which is a short form of "Wheatbread," a silly nickname I got stuck with back in the early 90s.
See the gear page at jamesnotjim.com for all the details.
